In 2001 the gas to electricity project commenced with first gas production starting in 2004. To date the field has supplied >500 Bcf of gas to Tanzania. The license has a total area of approximately 41,630 acres (170 km2). The blocks are located in shallow water approximately 15 km off the coast and 200 km south of Dar es Salaam.
